Yoga, Pilates and yoga therapy teacher for children and adults
Janka, a yoga therapist at our rehabilitation center in Bratislava-Rača, has been practicing yoga actively for several years and is part of the Yoga Alliance. She is qualified in the following yoga styles: Anusara Hatha yoga, Yin yoga, Therapeutic yoga, Yoga for adults and children with disabilities such as DMO, Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, etc. She has also practiced meditation in Europe and Asia – India and Bali.
She loves practicing Acroyoga and introduces it to children in special schools. It is an excellent method that teaches children to trust themselves, get rid of fear, be responsible, and all this is learned in a form that brings them joy. Jana taught yoga in Europe and India, studied in different parts of the world. She taught groups, individuals, and also children in a special school – for disabled children.
She also practiced therapeutic yoga – especially spinal yoga, which helps relieve back pain, which she herself has experienced. She spends a significant part of her working time with children with various disabilities – mental or physical. She studied yoga in London, Bali and India. On her journey to yoga, she met many teachers such as Bridget Woods Kramer, Ananda Leonne, Carlos Pomeda, Jo Manuel, the Yoga People studio and many others. Of course, the most important teachers are the people and children with whom she has worked and is working.
Janka, our therapist from Rehab Klinik Bratislava, believes that the main part of yoga takes place in life, not just on the mat. It is a journey that never ends, always something new. Yoga helps us get closer to ourselves, we learn to observe the mind, calm it, be here and now, in the moment that is right now. With regular practice, our mind becomes cleaner, clearer and calmer.
Working with the mind through yoga is very important because what is happening around us is just a mirror of what is happening inside us. Yoga takes us from the mind to our body, helping us move from analyzing to feeling, where we can just be. Since the moment she chose this path, it has not only taken her to beautiful and distant places, but has taken her on the most beautiful journey – to herself. She is happy to be able to share everything she has learned on this journey so far and a piece of every teacher she has met.
"Through yoga, we get closer to ourselves, we learn to observe the mind, calm it, be here and now, in the moment that is right now."
Janka, naša joga terapeutka v Bratislave
Yoga in our rehabilitation center Rehab Klinik Bratislava-Rača is based on professional knowledge of the patient’s condition. Based on this, we will choose the type of yoga that is most suitable for him. The pleasant and family environment that we have is very important. With Janka in our center, you can practice some of the following types of yoga.
Yin yoga is a slow, calm yoga, where positions are held for a certain time, from 1 to 5 minutes; for beginners it is 2 to 3 minutes. It is a type of yoga that does not use force. It prepares for meditation and teaches you to relax. In addition to the physical level – since it acts on tendons, soft fascia and improves circulation in the joints, it also improves flexibility, it also acts on the energy level through the energy channels, meridians and energy centers. It brings us a flexible body, a clear mind, and we are more energetically balanced. Since every physical illness is just a symptom of imbalance on the energy and mental levels, it is very important to eliminate and prevent illnesses not only on the physical level but also to address the cause on the energy and mental levels.
How is this yoga different from others? Universal principles of proper muscle activation. Yoga poses focus on core stability and spinal mobility. This tantric yoga focuses on the positive aspects of each individual, awakening them within us. Anusara yoga classes are led with ease, positive thinking and bring joy. We have 250 poses and we practice them with people at different levels. The principles practiced by Anusara navigate us through correctly held poses, through an open heart and a clear mind to balance and life force.
Yoga therapy works on multiple levels and with multiple systems such as movement, hormonal, nervous, etc. Therapeutic yoga uses spinal exercises for the spine, where we use knowledge and practice from physiotherapy. Since many people today suffer from a sedentary and fast-paced lifestyle, the spine often suffers. Not only does it support us and protect nerve connections, but it also affects flexibility. Thanks to a healthy spine, we feel more energy. To maintain a healthy spine, we need to exercise purposefully, regularly and comprehensively, as the muscles are connected and interconnected. It is important to know how to work and activate the pelvic floor, how and which abdominal muscles are important for a pain-free spine, and it is also important to increase flexibility and circulation in the joints.
Physio yoga is created by combining physiotherapy and yoga. Physio yoga is not a new type of yoga, but a combination of physiotherapy (Western medicine) and yoga (Eastern medicine).
For everyone who practices yoga at Rehab Klinik Bratislava, we have a specific rehabilitation plan associated with the given diagnosis. The result is aimed at eliminating pain, increasing the range of motion in the problem area and subsequently restoring full mobility without pain. We also achieve this through yoga exercises.
Yoga therapy integrates, for example, relaxation and breathing exercises, works with energy flows in our body and is mainly based on knowledge such as our body, mind, emotions and breath. The combination of knowledge from physiotherapy and various types of yoga focuses on the balance of body and mind. With the right exercise, we awaken and activate dead areas that we normally do not exercise and release all shortened muscles while strengthening weakened parts.
